Eastman Kodak's Health Imaging grows in 2003
A 16 percent surge in sales outside of the United States powered Eastman Kodak Co.'s Health Imaging group to greater sales in 2003.

In 2003, total sales climbed 7 percent to $2.43 billion, compared with $2.27 billion in 2002. Sales outside of the United States increased to $1.37 billion, compared with $1.18 billion in 2002. U.S. sales declined 2 percent for the year to $1.06 billion, compared with $1.09 billion in 2002.

Health Imaging's earnings (before interest and other charges) in 2003 jumped 12 percent to $481 million, up from $431 million in 2002.

In the fourth quarter of 2003, Health Imaging rode a 26 percent increase in digital products and services to bring total sales to $704 million, up 14 percent from $619 million in the fourth quarter of 2002. Sales outside of the United States advanced 24 percent to $398 million, compared with $322 million in the year-ago quarter. Domestic sales were $306 million, a gain of 3 percent over $297 million in the fourth quarter of 2002.

Earnings for the segment (before interest and other charges) increased to $134 million, compared with $117 million in the year-ago quarter.
