Radiation therapy and informatics firm Elekta said that the Illinois Neurological Institute at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria, Ill., will soon install its Leksell Gamma Knife Perfexion radiosurgery device. The non-invasive technology allows the delivery of focused doses of radiation for treatment of malignant and benign tumors.

The facility is upgrading its existing Gamma Knife technology, having utilized the modality to provide treatment to more than 650 patients since its deployment in 2001, according to the Stockholm, Sweden-based Elekta.
