eRad introduces RIS/PACS, new PACS viewer
eRad launched a new RIS/PACS and additional PACS Viewer plug-in modules at the 94th annual meeting of the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) in Chicago.

eRad said its RIS is the order entry, scheduling, reporting and charge capture add-on to eRAD PACS. Based on the earlier eRad Scheduler product, which provided scheduling tools to multi-site imaging centers and other providers, eRad RIS includes billing system integration, transaction logging, results reporting and automated report fax and email notification. The system includes HL7 interface support to HIS, EMR and other information systems. It allows users to manage patient demographics, procedures and schedules for multiple imaging facilities from a single user interface. eRad RIS is available as a part of eRad’s RIS/PACS product offering.

The company also launched additional PACS Viewer plug-in modules. New PACS viewer plug-in modules include Calcium Scoring and PACS Image Fusion. The Calcium Scoring module is a wizard-like tool that walks the user through identification and classification of calcium deposits. The result is a complete calcium scoring and patient report that can be saved as part of the exam. The entire process can be completed in less than three minutes. The eRad PACS Image Fusion plug-in module integrates visualization capabilities into its viewer technology. Image fusion combines PET/CT and SPECT/CT structural and functional images sharing complementary spatial resolution characteristics into a single volume. The plug-in module includes tools for orthogonal and volume oriented views, alpha bending, color spectrum application and MIP views. Fused images can be saved to the PACS archive, and attached to reports as key images.
