FDA grants Siemens clearance for new 1.5T MRI system
The U.S. FDA has granted 510(k) clearance for Siemens Medical Solutions’ 1.5 Tesla (T) Magnetom Essenza, a high-field MRI system.
Siemens said it has priced the new Magnetom Essenza almost $500,000 less than other 1.5T systems, allowing providers to upgrade from low-field, MRI systems. According to Siemens, the MRI system is designed for the small hospital imaging system market.
The Magnetom Essenza is comparatively lightweight at approximately 3.5 tons, and has an ultra-short bore-length of 145 cm, according to Siemens.
