GE MR systems earn FDA nod
The FDA has cleared GE Healthcare Optima MR360 and Brivo MR355.

The Optima MR360 1.5T MR system combines user interface features, Express Coil technology and clinical applications. Express Coil provides a single coil built into a fixed table to help reduce handling and provide consistent image quality by ensuring coil elements are close to patient anatomy. The Optima uses a magnet with a 48 cm field-of-view and features the OpTix optical RF system. The GE ecomagination product offers a footprint 20 percent smaller than other fully body 1.5T systems, and it potentially saves up to 60,000 kWh per year, according to the Waukesha, Wis.-based company.

The Brivo MR355 features a 48 cm field-of-view, OpTix technology and the embedded Express coil. It incorporates the Ready Interface, a control center that optimizes scan parameters, stated GE. The Ready Bar reduces 30 inputs to a single control, and the Ready Brain acquisition technique determines slice alignment for brain scans.

Approximately 180 of the MR systems have been ordered by hospitals and imaging centers worldwide, GE shared.
