Hologic Tuesday announced the resignation of Chairman and Board Director Patrick Sullivan to pursue other opportunities, effective immediately.

The board replaced Sullivan with Jack W. Cumming, who will also continue to serve as the CEO.

The Bedford, Mass.-based Hologic said prior to his stint with Hologic, Sullivan was the chairman, president and CEO of Cytyc. Sullivan currently serves on the board of directors for PerkinElmer.
