IBM and Misys Healthcare Systems on Tuesday announced a new system designed to speed up access for physicians and other caregivers to essential patient information. The system is designed for small and medium-sized practices.

The system, dubbed Express Solution for Healthcare Providers, is built to increase clinical decision support through the automation of many routine medical records management tasks, allowing physicians’ practices to focus on patient care.

The system gives small and medium-sized physicians’ offices and clinics the ability to shift to an all-digital workflow by implementing a suite of applications from Misys, including Misys Vision, Misys Tiger, and Misys EMR, as well as web-based financial management software applications and related services from Payerpath, a Misys company. These applications are combined with IBM System p5 Express servers, storage and middleware including the IBM System p5 Express servers with the IBM AIX 5L operating system, IBM system x236 server with the Microsoft Windows operating system, the IBM Informix Dynamic Server database, the Lenovo ThinkPad tablet PC, and optional IBM System Storage products.
