IBM seals deal with Initiate Systems
IBM has closed a deal that will expand its existing portfolio by acquiring Initiate Systems, a software company focused on developing data management technologies.

Under the acquisition, Initiate’s operations will be integrated into IBM’s information management business to expand upon its ability to analyze and deliver information to clients and allow for better access to patient data, the company said.

According to Armonk, N.Y.-based IBM, Initiate’s technology helps gather data into single, multi-purpose systems to avoid inconsistencies. The company said that this will be particularly beneficial for both the healthcare and government sectors.

Initiate’s client base involves payers, providers and retailers vending prescription drugs. According to IBM, employees of Initiate will join the company.
