Industry round-up: A-Life Medical, Aurora Imaging, Sage Software Healthcare
A-Life Medical Inc. has appointed David Desch as vice president of Engineering Development and IT. Desch will lead the expansion of the company’s patented NLP technology to additional healthcare specialties and the development of new products.


Aurora Imaging Technology Inc. has formed the Aurora Breast MRI Society – a group of healthcare professionals dedicated to diagnosing breast cancer earlier and evaluating breast disease, by utilizing the most advanced breast imaging modality available.

Kamilia F. Kozlowski, MD, medical director/CEO and clinical breast radiologist at the Knoxville Comprehensive Breast Center in Knoxville, Tenn., is the first president of the society. Kozlowski said the organization’s main function will be to “share ideas, information, protocols and research, among other things, about breast radiology. By creating a forum for the exchange of clinical information, the Aurora Breast MRI Society envisions advancing the use of this cutting-edge technology to reduce the morbidity and mortality of breast cancer in women.”

The mission of the Aurora Breast MRI Society is to further spur and expand the clinical role of breast MRI, as well as educate the medical profession, public and healthcare industry about the vital role of breast MRI in earlier detection and more effective evaluation of breast disease.

Sage Software Healthcare has named Sharon Howard as the company’s senior vice president of marketing. Howard will lead the company’s marketing efforts and will report directly to Andy Corbin, the division’s CEO. Howard assumes the role that has been held on an interim basis by Paul Stinson, the senior vice president of product management, who held dual roles during Sage Software’s acquisition of Emdeon Practice Services.

Howard has over 20 years of senior-level leadership experience in the areas of marketing, product management and business development. Previously, she served as senior vice president of mid-tier sales with Fidelity National Information Services. Prior to this, Howard was the vice president of product management, marketing and sales support for The BISYS Group.
