McKesson to enhance Chicago hospital's clinical infrastructure
McKesson Information Solutions' Horizon Clinicals will be implemented at Northwest Community Hospital (NCH) in Arlington Heights, Ill.

The system is designed to upgrade the hospital's clinical infrastructure by facilitating the use of information technology (IT) across multiple care settings. Servicing Chicago's suburban area, NCH includes a 500-bed hospital with three emergency treatment centers, an outpatient surgery facility, a new imaging center, a community wellness center and a new center for specialty medicine.

One of the first implementations will be McKesson's Horizon Patient Folder, which uses document management capabilities to create and complete electronic medical records. Additional clinical development initiatives include Horizon Expert Orders, McKesson's clinical support and computerized physician order entry system.

Also, nearly 900 physicians associated with NCH will have Web-based and mobile access to patient information from remote locations, as well as be able to electronically review records and sign patient charts via Horizon Physician Portal.
