MedQuist closes remote coding contract
Speech recognition and application service provider (ASP) MedQuist announced it has recently signed an agreement with Catholic Healthcare West (CHW) authorizing it to provide remote medical records coding services and its CodeRunner ASP technology. CHW is the eighth largest hospital system in the U.S., according to Mount Laurel, N.J.-based MedQuist.

The CodeRunner application will allow CHW to share coding resources among multiple facilities, with the potential for better staff utilization and load balancing, and also allow for the improvement of coding delivery to decrease revenue cycle time, MedQuist said.

In addition to enabling the sharing of internal coding resources, CodeRunner allows customers to leverage MedQuist remote coding services and incorporate other third-party coding providers for coding services, while retaining management control and transparency over the coding workflow across the entire enterprise, according to the company.

MedQuist has previously secured an agreement with CHW for its SpeechQ for Radiology speech recognition system.
