Medtronic nets CE mark for 31 mm CoreValve
Medtronic has received CE mark approval for its 31 mm Medtronic CoreValve system, a transcatheter aortic valve.
The valve can be compressed, allowing it to be deployed through the same 18 French (less than one-fourth of an inch or approximately 6 mm in diameter) delivery system, like with smaller CoreValve sizes, according to the company.
Minneapolis-based Medtronic said its CoreValve portfolio now includes 26 mm, 29 mm and 31 mm valves—all based on the self-expanding platform that received CE mark in 2007. The Medtronic CoreValve system is currently limited to investigational use in the U.S.
