Minnesota pediatric hospital installs Fuji SpeedSuite
Children’s Hospital and Clinics of Minnesota has installed the FDR Dual Velocity SpeedSuite from Fujifilm Medical Systems.

The digital x-ray system’s image capture technology results in shorter image exposure times—useful in a pediatric environment in which young patients find it difficult to refrain from moving during exams, according to the firm. The Stamford, Conn.-based Fujifilm said the system also includes auto-collimation and the capability to pre-set technique parameters for pediatric studies that facilities use most frequently.

Children’s is the seventh-largest pediatric facility in the state, housing 332 beds on two campuses in Minneapolis and St. Paul. In 2008, the facility had 14,000 admissions with 82,000 emergency room visits and 117,000 clinic visits, which required the completion of nearly 120,000 radiological exams.
