Neurostar's introduces VRN enhancements
Neurostar Solutions introduced at SCAR 2005 a range of enhancements to its Virtual Radiology Network (VRN) medical image management product designed to support virtual medical communities.  The product is designed to provide intelligent workflow to automatic Internet updates and orthopedic templating for the radiology department, said Neurostar.

New features at SCAR 2005 included advanced optimization and support for wireless networks. The system can use cellular communications, mobile imaging facilities as well as mobile users to connect to Neurostar's centralized VRN servers to provide full functionality and quick image communication, whether uploading or downloading data. VRN is designed for anytime anywhere access and hence is suited for use in a mobile imaging environment.

Neurostar also introduced at SCAR 2005 Intelligent Virtual Workflow, a new suite of advanced features including fast onsite image access, enhanced system reliability and fully redundant emergency back up.  Intelligent Workflow is enabled in part by integrated local image caching on-site in addition to remote image storage on Neurostar's off-site central VRN hardware.  Complementing this, enhanced server load-balancing both on- and off-site ensures scalability and cost-effective system growth.

Also being introduced at SCAR is the functionality of the VRN Web-based reading station and automatic Internet-based VRN software updates, designed to eliminate time-consuming manual software installation and ensuring that the latest software release is always available. In addition, the workstation includes remote software monitoring capabilities to guard against problems.
