New Welsh research institute installs Siemens MR + CT
As Swansea University completed the second phase of development of its medical research Institute of Life Sciences, the university publicized a partnership with Siemens Healthcare and the installation of Magnetom Skyra 3T MRI and Somaton Definition AS+ CT scanners.
Located in Swansea, Wales, and supported by the Welsh Assembly Government, the announcement came as the Swansea University completed construction of the second building at the Institute of Life Sciences, expanding the institute’s medical research from cancer, obesity and diabetes to projects in cardiology, neurology and psychology. According to Erlangen, Germany-based Siemens, the CT provides high-resolution whole body and cardiac scans along with radiation dose minimization controls.
