NightHawk taps TeraRecon's technology for global 3D initiative
TeraRecon Inc. said that teleradiology service provider, NightHawk Radiology, has chosen its technology platform for delivering image post-processing capabilities to NightHawk's more than 1,300 contracted hospitals in the United States.  NightHawk is aiming to position itself as the top provider of 3D imaging services for radiology, cardiology and referring physicians.

Nighthawk believes that due to the rise in adoption of 64-slice multidetector CT scanners, many radiology departments are in need of after-hours 3D post processing. Through its program, departments can elect to have their cardiac CTA studies read by one of NightHawk's affiliated radiologists, have the renderings created and returned for their interpretation, or may wish to only have the non-coronary interpretations performed.

NightHawk's 3D initiative is powered by dual redundant AquariusNET Servers and an Aquarius advanced pre-processing server (APS). A team of 3D technicians work on Aquarius Workstations at the company's 3D lab in Austin, Texas. After processing, the image data and 3D work product are sent to NightHawk's customers who are enabled to further manipulate the images volumetrically using TeraRecon's AquariusNET Server and a portable, archival saved-state capability called a Scene.
