Partnerships: IMS & athenahealth; IMDS & CFET; Kodak & MedLink
The Iowa Medical Society (IMS) and athenahealth Inc. have aligned to offer athenahealth’s on-demand clinical and revenue cycle management services to Iowa physicians.

athenahealth offers an on-demand physician and clinical cycle management system that integrates web-based practice management software, continually updated payer and clinical knowledge, and back-office processing specialists into a single service.

athenahealth’s “payer rules engine” is the largest real-time database of payer rules and regulations in the industry. The payer rules engine helps catch and correct billing errors before they are submitted in claims and lead to denials. The results can include increased collections, faster reimbursement cycles, and reduced administrative headaches for physician practices.  In addition to helping individual practices, athenahealth will share state-specific claim data with the IMS that will help the medical society to substantiate and resolve problems with payers on behalf of its members.

Imaging Diagnostic Systems (IMDS), laser optical breast imaging system provider, announced that it has modified its China distribution arrangements to accelerate market penetration of the new CT Laser Mammography system. Thus, IDSI terminated its exclusive agreement with China Far East International Trading Corp. (CFET) to permit IDSI to appoint non-exclusive distributors and representatives in the country.

Eastman Kodak Company’s Health Group and MedLink International signed a co-marketing agreement through which each company will promote the other’s medical imaging, information and software products in the U.S.

MedLink will refer healthcare facilities interested in purchasing RIS/PACS either as an integrated suite or as individual systems — and related professional services to the sales force for Kodak’s Health Group for its Carestream RIS/PACS suite and information management systems.
