Plasmon, NetApp form archiving agreement
Plasmon has formed a partnership with NetApp to provide customers with differentiated solutions that meet their archiving needs.

As part of the agreement, Plasmon is integrating NetApp storage systems into its Archive Appliance and data management solutions to virtualize the archive layer and allow intelligence-based archive systems that work with multiple technologies as one virtualized storage pool, the Broomfield, Colo.-based Plasmon and the Sunnyvale, Calif.-based NetApp said.

“This partnership is another step toward delivering solutions that enable archives to seamlessly leverage appropriate storage technologies and applications,” said Steven Murphy, CEO of Plasmon.

“The trend toward virtualization is causing customers to rethink their backup architecture and processes,” said Patrick Rogers, vice president, solutions marketing at NetApp.
