Siemens, Heart Center of Indiana partner for cardiac MRI
Siemens Medical Solutions and The Heart Center of Indiana (THCI) have inked an agreement to leverage the power of cardiovascular MRI using Siemens' technologies. The aim of the partnership is to optimize ways to evaluate patients with coronary artery disease.

As part of the research agreement, the Heart Center of Indianai, a specialized all-digital facility focused on cardiovascular disease, will work with Siemens as a development site in cardiac MRI, assisting to develop new software and testing imaging sequences and clinical protocols.

"Continually researching and innovating diagnosis and treatment practices is paramount to the future of cardiology and the medical industry as a whole," said Robert Dewey, director of cardiology solutions for Siemens. "This partnership between THCI and Siemens will not only enable the best possible outcomes with advanced imaging systems for faster, more accurate diagnosis, but work toward evolving cardiovascular disease management to the next level."

Another goal of the collaboration will be to launch a global web site for cardiovascular MRI by 2005. The site will be coordinated by THCI and Ronald Razmi, MD, director of cardiovascular MR/CT at THCI, will be the executive director of the site. The site will be an educational resource for physicians interested in training in cardiovascular MRI and it will provide comprehensive teaching opportunities in the field, explained Siemens.
