Siemens rolls out 1.5T MR with Tim technology at Pa.-based imaging center
Vision Imaging of Leesport, Pa., has deployed Siemens Medical Solutions' Magnetom Avanto, a 1.5 Tesla magnetic resonance (MR) system with Tim (total imaging matrix) technology.

The imaging center completed installation of the 1.5T MR system in April 2004. Since its installation, the center notes that patient scanning time has decreased significantly and image quality has increased in tests for vascular, neurological, cardiac and breast disorders, and endo-rectal and spectroscopy exams.

Siemens says the Magnetom Avanto is the company's first MR system to fully incorporate Tim, a whole body surface coil design and RF technology that can scan up to 6'9" without having to change coils or reposition the patient.

The Magnetom Avanto also delivers whole Central Nervous System (CNS) imaging and visualization of vascular diseases. It features Siemens iPAT (integrated Parallel Acquisition Technique) that provides fast image acquisition with parallel imaging in all dimensions, including head to toe, front to back, and side to side. The system's Phoenix software allows clinicians to transfer protocol for medical images from a CD, making it possible to initiate a scan directly from the image.
