Siemens Somatom Perspective CT nabs FDA clearance
Siemens Healthcare has received FDA clearance for its Somatom Perspective 128-slice CT scanner.
Somatom Perspective is designed for community hospitals, critical access hospitals and outpatient centers, according to Malvern, Pa.-based Siemens Healthcare.
Included as a standard option with the scanner is the Sinogram Affirmed Iterative Recontruction (SAFIRE) method for iterative CT image reconstruction based on raw data. SAFIRE allows for up to 60 percent reduction in dose compared with filtered back project techniques, and reconstruction speeds are up to 15 images per second, according to the company.
The scanner also has the eMode feature, which is designed to determine and automatically select system scan parameters so the CT operates with as low a load as possible.
