U.S. Electronics to offer DICOM display for mammography
U.S. Electronics (USEI) showcased its latest addition, the Totoku model MS51i2, a 21.3-inch monochrome display with a resolution of 15 megapixels (MP), last month in Chicago at the 93rd annual meeting of the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA).

“Every year we try to add to our product line to make it better,” said Monoj Tyagi, global sales and marketing leader for USEI. “Our goal is to deliver a quality product before anyone else.”

Tyagi said that the high contrast, wide viewing angle 15-MP display “breaks through the bottleneck in softcopy diagnostic environments created by modalities that are producing higher resolutions.” The display, which has a luminance of up to 750 candelas per square meter, also features a built-in luminance equalizer and calibration function to enable a “smooth grayscale display that is faithful to DICOM GSDF,” he said.

According to the Minneapolis-based medical displays distributor, the model pending FDA approval, which they expect in spring 2008.
