Sonora Medical Systems, a supplier of test equipment to the medical imaging ultrasound and MRI markets, reported that the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office awarded U.S. Patent No. 7,278,289 to the firm for its FirstAssist.

The Longmont, Colo.-based company said that it is the first patent awarded for an ultrasound system testing device.
