Vascular Solutions has launched the Axis Wire, a 0.035 inches specialty guidewire that combines a stiff proximal shaft with a floppy distal tip.

The Axis Wire is designed to offer the benefits of easy delivery combined with the protection of an atraumatic tip, according to the Minneapolis-based Vascular. The coils of the Axis wire are pre-coated with a PTFE coating.

The Axis Wire is currently available in the U.S. in a 90cm length, with 145cm and 260cm lengths expected to be available in August.
