ZONARE Medical Systems announced at the annual Radiology Society of North America (RSNA) meeting today in Chicago that the company has reached 500 worldwide installations of its z.one ultrasound system. Based on Zone Sonography technology, the z.one system is a Convertible Ultrasound platform. Sales of the system have been doubling approximately every six months since shipments began in spring 2005, the company said.

Due to its design, Zonare said, clinicians are able to instantly convert the z.one platform from a full-featured, cart-based system into a premium compact, ultrasound system with much the same performance of substantially larger and more expensive ultrasound units.
