The California E-Prescribing Consortium has recently been launched to improve patient safety and care through the adoption of e-prescribing technology.

According to U.S. e-prescribing network Surescripts, California ranked 28^th in e-prescribing use in 2008. The Consortium said it is positioned to address those concerns that will increase e-prescribing use—whether it is addressing the local e-prescribing needs of local independent pharmacies or implementation concerns of regionally-based California health plans.
