The chief information officers (CIOs) at the health divisions of the Departments of Veterans Affairs (VA) and the Department of Defense (DoD) have swapped positions.

Charles Campbell, former deputy CIO for health division at the VA, is the new acting CIO for the Military Health System and is expected to become the permanent CIO.

Charles Hume, former deputy CIO for the Military Health System, is the new deputy CIO for veteran’s health programs at the VA.

DoD officials said the swap will increase communication and understanding between the two organizations, which are working to exchange medical records of military personnel who may receive healthcare from both organizations.
