Elekta nabs two Italian installs
Two Italian hospitals, S. Maria Annunziata Hospital in Florence and IRST Cancer Institute in Meldola, have opened new radiation therapy clinics, and selected Elekta to supply its cancer treatment systems for intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) and image-guided radiation therapy (IGRT).
The new radiation therapy departments have chosen Elekta’s Synergy, a system for IMRT and 3D image-guided radiation therapy, according to the Stockholm, Sweden-based Elekta.
The combined orders are valued at more 8 million euros ($11.3 million US). The systems will be installed in the autumn and winter of 2007-08.
