IBA nets Swiss install for particle beam accelerator
An x-ray sterilization facility will be built using the new Rhodotron TT-1000 system from Ion Beam Applications (IBA), on the premises of LEONI Studer in Däniken, Switzerland.
The new facility is expected to be operational in early 2010 and will be the first facility worldwide capable of sterilizing large amounts of medical devices directly on pallets, using an x-ray system, according to IBA.
The Rhodotron is an electronic beam particle accelerator mainly used to sterilize single-use medical products.
