Merge Healthcare, a medical imaging solutions company, has launched its Managed Services initiative, which includes Merge Off-Site Disaster Recovery, providing HIPAA compliant backup of radiology images and information.

The service provides hospitals and imaging centers with a business continuity solution in the event of system failure, unplanned downtime or natural disaster, according to the Milwaukee-based Merge.

The company said its Off Site Disaster Recovery service includes 24/7 system monitoring via Merge's proprietary ViewCheck software. Merge also said its tiered offering provides on-demand access and unlimited online retrieval of archived studies, an audit trail of all studies from the customer site to its Data Center and onsite recovery services.
