MGMA CEO Jessee to retire, search is on for successor
William F. Jessee, MD, president and CEO of the Medical Group Management Association (MGMA), will retire after 11 years of service in the fall of 2011; meanwhile MGMA said that it will soon begin the search for his successor.

During his reign, Jessee was ranked as one of the top most powerful physician executives and listed in Modern Healthcare’s top 100 most powerful people in healthcare. According to the association, Jessee helped lead MGMA by addressing administrative complexities in healthcare and raising awareness of the practice management profession.

In addition to serving as MGMA’s CEO, he also served as board member for the Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Management Education, e-Health Initiative and the Colorado Regional Health Information Organization.

Englewood, Colo.-based MGMA said it expects that the recruitment process will take nine to 12 months to complete.
