Philips 3T MRI scanner operational at Netherlands hospital
The Leids Universitair Medisch Centrum (LUMC), in Leiden, the Netherlands, is using Philips Medical Systems' Achieva 3.0T MRI scanner for both R&D and clinical purposes for neurological, cardiac and orthopedic applications.

The system was installed in December 2004 and has been operationally active since January 2005, Philips said. It makes it the third Philips MR system installed at LUMC and the fifth 3.0T installation in the Netherlands, Philips said.

The whole-body 3.0T scanner enables new MR applications like white-matter fiber tracking in the brain, Philips said. Features include NetForum, ExamCards and New FreeWave scalable 32-channel architecture.
