Philips, Georgia: matters of the heart
The Georgia Heart Center at The Medical Center of Central Georgia (MCCG) and Philips Medical Systems have inked a five-year cardiac alliance that calls for the installation of new digital imaging technology to the MCCG facility.

The Macon, Ga.-based heart care provider offer a full range of diagnostic cardiovascular imaging services and procedures, such as echocardiography, heart catheterizations, valve repair and replacement. The Georgia Heart Center has performed more than 10,000 open-heart surgeries, with more than 1,100 performed annually.

Philips will be implementing new diagnostic imaging technologies, IT systems and patient monitoring systems designed to help clinicians diagnose and treat individuals with cardiovascular disease.

The new imaging equipment will help The Georgia Heart Center address a serious public health issue as more Georgians die each year from cardiovascular disease than from cancer, AIDS, suicides and traffic accidents combined, Philips said.
