U.S. Army to buy Trestle's live microscopy system
The U.S. Army has purchased three additional MedMicro live telepathology systems from Trestle Holdings Inc.

Since June 2001, the Army has implemented MedMicro at 21 different facilities, including Walter Reed Army Medical Center, Fort Benning and Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Germany.

MedMicro connects microscopes through the Internet among remote U.S. Army pathologists, allowing them to examine human tissue from military patients being treated at MedMicro-equipped facilities around the world.

MedMicro enables images to appear on a computer monitor in real-time, allowing users to navigate slides, while controlling the focus and illumination.
