The Association for Medical Imaging Management has canceled its 2020 spring conference due to the coronavirus outbreak, the group announced March 6. The annual gathering was set to kick off on March 28 in San Diego.
The AHRA is the latest medical society to cancel or postpone its annual conference as COVID-19 continues to spread into the U.S. In the past few weeks, the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society, Society of Interventional Radiology, American Board of Radiology, American College of Cardiology and many others made the move to cancel upcoming meetings or exams.
According to the AHRA’s announcement, registrants have the option to receive a refund or exchange their spring conference registration for the society’s annual meeting and exposition scheduled for July 12-15 in Boston.
“The health and well-being of our meeting attendees, staff, vendors, and the AHRA community are our primary concern,” AHRA President, Chris Tomlinson said in a statement. “Additionally, many AHRA members who are frontline medical imaging managers and critical to their health organization’s operations are not permitted any non-essential travel at this time. We believe it’s important that key healthcare leaders aren’t displaced during a critical time.”
