Primera Technology Inc. a developer and manufacturer of CD/DVD duplication and printing equipment, has announced its OptiVault Archival Appliance.

OptiVault is an automated, robotically-controlled appliance that backs up and recovers email and other critical data onto robust and affordable optical media.  The device operates unobtrusively in the background of Microsoft-based servers in order to back up and recovers a wide range of critical data, the company said.

The archive appliance uses non-erasable, non-rewritable DVD optical media that can be stored off-site, and is WORM (Write Once Read Many) compliant.
