Associations, vendors offering ICD-10 education ahead of deadline

Tick, tick, tick. The ICD-10 implementation next month is almost here, and a number of organizations are offering last-minute education and checklists to get prepped ahead of the deadline.

The American College of Radiology has offered some resources and is asking providers to notify them and their local Medicare contractor if a previously payable ICD-9 diagnosis code has been omitted from the list of approved and medically necessary ICD-10 diagnosis codes.

The American Hospital Association also chimed in to offer a checklist of key steps that hospitals should take to ensure a successful transition. Another checklist for the final weeks before implementation can be found in the latest issue of Radiology Business Journal.

Vendors have also been trying to extend a hand to help their client through the transition. vRad is making available a series of webinars on ICD-10 and Zotec has created an ICD-10 Education page.
